The Satsuma is a type of citrus called a mandarin. Mandarins are usually smaller in size and shaped like a flattened sphere. Satsumas are easy to peel, virtually seedless, and very sweet.

Uses:
The Satsuma is best when eaten raw out of hand, but also works well on top of salads and desserts.

Selection & Storage:
Like all citrus, to get the juiciest Satsumas, choose ones that are heavy for their size. Skins should always be soft, glossy, and firm, but color may vary from light to dark orange.
