Lemons are rarely consumed on their own, but
are an excellent way to add some low-calorie, tangy zest to
any meal. They're a staple cooking ingredient and should always
be kept on hand in every kitchen. |
Uses:
How about squeezing fresh lemon juice over broiled fish or poultry?
Or adding a wedge to your favorite tea? And what better way to perk
up plain sugar cookies than with a dash of lemon zest? Lemons spark
up any dish, dessert, or drink. Be creative and give it a try.
Selection & Storage:
Choose lemons that are firm with smooth, thin skin. The heavier
lemons are juicer, so keep that in mind. Ripe lemons should also
have a sweet citrus fragrance. Depending on ripeness, lemons can
last for up to 2 to 3 weeks refrigerated. Also, to increase the
amount of juice you’ll get from a lemon, store it at room
temperature before using.
