Our Growers

Our growers are experts at what they do and they take great pride in the fruit that they grow. The Lehr Brothers and Chavez Family are just two examples of the many growers whose dedication allows Tropicana® Premium Fresh to bring you the juicy, sweet goodness of sunny citrus and tropicals.

Lehr Brothers

After departing the American Midwest in the 1930s, the Lehr family began farming in Bakersfield, California. Focusing on quality while setting up their farm in California’s Central Valley, it wasn’t long before the Lehr brothers became known as “one of the best potato growers in the valley.” They’ve grown since their first 80-acre farm was planted in 1938, and their operations now include many other fruits and vegetables, including oranges, lemons, and bell peppers, to name a few. Known for being honest, humble people, to this day, their reputation still stands.

Ron Lehr, Sr. carries on the agricultural tradition and is the second-generation family member running the farm. He is supported by third and fourth generation family members.

The Chavez Family

David A. Chavez began farming in 1985 with the goal of providing customers top shelf quality citrus at competitive pricing and those values remain at the core of their growth. Surrounded by his father, children, and close relatives, David has worked the past 30 years to build his business.

Minority and family-owned, they are growers first, working 400+ acres of citrus groves in the heart of California’s Central Valley. Sustainable technology and practices allow them to stay competitive in the marketplace while reducing their carbon footprint. From strategic watering schedules and applications in the field, to energy efficient equipment in the packinghouse, they work hard to operate as efficiently as possible. They take pride in what they do—growing top quality citrus–and strive to get better each day.
